A tour around Belfast’s Christmas Market

Belfast’s award-winning continental Christmas market is not to be missed. Each year it returns and doesn’t disappoint. I can’t even count how many times I have been round it already this year hahah! Even though each year it is there, there is something special and christmassy about it which never gets old! It definitely gets you in the Christmas spirit.

What’s on offer?

Transforming the grounds of Belfast City Hall into a haven of steaming cups of mulled wine and hot chocolate as well as the twinkling lights, the market offers various different stalls serving food, crafts and produce. Some of my favourite stalls to stop off and taste are the: French crepes, Dutch pancakes, German bratwursts, marshmallow toasting stations, winter foliage and Christmas crafts. If you have young children then there is plenty of fun attractions for them! Whether thats having. a slide down the helter-skelter, visiting Santa’s grotto, riding on the vintage carousel or going in the made up snow globe for a picture!

So guys… before I head off, here is my top 5 MUST do things at the Belfast Christmas Market:

1. Enjoy a cup of Mulled Wine or Hot Chocolate

The words ‘let’s go to Belfast’s Christmas Market’ alone may be enough to fill you with festive cheer, but there’s no better accompaniment for exploring a plethora of festive chalets than a piping hot mulled wine or indulgent hot chocolate. You can find stalls across the market to treat yourself.

2. Bag Some Unique Handmade Crafts

One of the best things about Belfast’s market is the variety of independent craft stalls, there is so many quirky, handmade crafts. It’s the perfect place for picking up personalised and unique gifts for friends and family. Still to do some last minute Christmas shopping? Then check out my gift guides here.

3. Sample Some of Belfast’s Best Local Produce

The Market is an awesome opportunity to sample some of the regions finest produce, including the scrumptious tray-bakes (Can I tempt you with caramel squares, mars bar cakes etc) , handcrafted cheese and Bushmills whisky. The enticing aroma of roasting pecans and hazelnuts alone will stir up an appetite, and this is only a few of the amazing foods on offer here!

4. Try the warm Cookie dough

This is by FAR the best thing about the market this year. This stall is new for 2019 and offers warm chocolate cookie dough! It is amazing!!!!! You also choose a topping (Oreo, smarties, sprinkles etc) as well as melted chocolate sauce to complete it. MMM it is amazing.

5. Take a look at all the Pretty lights

Do not go to the Christmas market without looking at all the pretty lights and the way the City Hall is lit up! It is amazing and is definitely Insta worthy. I have taken so many pictures haha! If that isn’t enough for you… then check out the huge Christmas tree in the middle of the market which is wrapped with cute lights and so festive!
